Brown Bear in Kaslo

Was in Kaslo, BC, Canada  doing the research thing again to see if there were any backpacking trails I should be putting on my wish list and on our websites.  After checking out the village of Kaslo on Kootenay Lake I decided to take a scenic tour on Highway #31A to the small village of  New Denver. It was another scenic drive along another wilderness highway. Lucky me!

Much of the highway route follows the Kaslo River.  The highway is full of turns and hills. So much so I lost part of my coffee on my lap. Hot! Once recovered, there was lots to see on this highway route including  wetland marshes like the Beaver Ponds, the Kaslo River Trailway, mountain peaks and  wildlife.

Mostly spent the day taking pictures and exploring some of the trails which start  from the highway like the Buchanan Lookoout.  In our business one of the pluses  is the opportunity to share the outdoors with wildlife.

On this trip I was lucky enough to visit with a moose and a very curious Brown Bear.  Coming back from New Denver, as I got closer to Kaslo,  I just happen to look down someones driveway and there was a bear with his snout dug deep into a trash bin. This is a big problem with humans teaching bears bad habits.

Here is a picture of the bear, looking back at me, after he was finished his meal. Probably knew I was not impressed with his choice of restaurant.
