Mt. Revelstoke National park

This morning I was out the door early.  Arrived at the toll booth gate of the national park before it was open. I guess I was a little excited about checking it out.

But what I found out was that because of the  big snow we had last year and the low snow line, the mountain peaks were snowed in which has prevented the park staff from clearing the deadfall and trails.  So the summit trails and and lake trails into the back country are closed. Little bit of a disappointment as I had all the gear with me – hence leaving early.

So had to pull out some new adventures.  From my research I knew there was still plenty to enjoy on the mountain at the lower elevations.  The park enjoys two viewpoints and many lower slope hiking trails.   It is a park for the active and a park for the not so active.

On my trip the skies were blue. The flowers were out.  Orange and yellow were the colors of choice. The air was cool when in the shade from the snow patches here and there.  But the sun was out too,   so it felt good when exploring out of the shade.

Here I am at the Monashee Lookout.

Be well, Be active eh!
