Ladies of Kathleen Lake

What a day! It was a day of big gains and a day of losses.

Time has been tight as we are staying in places longer than we should – so every day in Haines Junction in the Yukon started at sunrise and finished at sunset.

The Rock Glacier Trail and Kathleen Lake were highlights today. The trail because of the enjoyable hike leading up a rock slide to mountain views of the valley.  The lake was special because of the beautiful scenery and the two ladies I met kayaking the lake.

The ladies were from the USA and were just coming back from an adventure on the other end of the lake. They were older ladies with very young hearts. They had lots of energy, seemed to be at peace, and had lots to say about the scenery they had explored.  You could tell they were good people.

Sometimes other peoples happiness after an adventure rubs off.  In this case the ladies enthusiasm did rub off on me.  I left the lake with a smile on my face.. so much so I forgot my video camera on the roof of my jeep.  It was not till a few kilometers down the rough gravel road did I realize I had misplaced it.

So the scenery scored big as usual and EH Tourism is down 1 video camera.  All in one day. I guess it is the price I  pay for exploring Canada’s outdoors.   Tomorrow morning we shop for a new camera.

Anywho, here is a picture of the ladies who totally distracted me, who brought me to laugh and to forget my video camera.

Life is Good.
